If you were up early this morning, the dawn of a new day brings changes after last night's election. However, there are some things we can count on. The sliver of the new moon has the appearance of ripe cheese. It was amazing to glance out the kitchen window to such a beautiful spectacle. What is even more amazing is the fact that I am outdoors at this moment in time with an IMac blogging on Nov. 3 in North Dakota. I can hear the wind ever so slightly in the trees, but not without the annoying sounds of rural water pumps from across the river. In fact with the air is colder I can hear the cars across the river as people travel to work.
I guess that's progress. There's no where to look in the hour that I don't see lights galore. I'm thinking that God made night as a reprieve from the light and we took it upon ourselves to replace the sun with porch lights and street lights.
I like the dark. It is peaceful and calming. On a side note, Venus the morning star will return by the end of next week.
It's been a wonderful week. I received the blessings of local food several times in the form of honey and apples. Just when you thought it was safe to enter the kitchen again, there they are bags and bags of wonderful pie apples, or crisp apples or eating apples. They are so good I want to run through the house screaming, and I do sometimes. Local food is more than a trend, a fad - a thing to do. It's way of life that some of us actually remember. A time when families fed themselves and took care of their neighbors needs as well by sharing the bounty.
This fall has been so delightful and later I'll share another one or two blessed events in our lives, but right now, it's time for a second cup of coffee. And, when I shut the computer down, my eyes will adjust to the darkness and the moon will again regain its delightful appearance in the night sky.
