Traveling turned ugly

Enjoying the beautiful fall day Monday from my steps in total admiration of the cottonwood trees in their yellow coats, the week seemed full of promise.
Then we tried to get to Madison.  I say we, because there were two of us from Bismarck headed to the same destination. Wisconsin.
The plane was late. We missed the next flight. We were stranded in Minneapolis. Had to get up at the crack of dawn to catch the next available flight. The plane was broke. We waited. And waited. Finally, we made it to Madison and caught the conference already underway.
Flying has reduced me to one tightly packed suitcase. No more brightly colored cosmetic bags. Nosireee. Just a Ziplock freezer bag will do. No fancy shoes either, no scarves and only a light jacket. These articles all need to be removed at any airport line. The whole flying thing took the fun out of my anticipation for a wonderful few days in Madison.
Tuesday was tiring. However, we ended on a happy, but pricey, note. The restaurant with the local menu was awesome. Our server was Australian and wonderful. The food was delightful and the portions just the right size so you didn't come home feeling like you ate too much rich food.
Today - field trips and then discussion on scaling up local foods. I hope you are all ready for a gastronomic trip down a farmers field, cause we are hoping to make that happen. Until that time, keep on cooking, get that garden cleaned out, visit a farmers market and Gut Essen.
