Sunday

Well, the fog was thick off the river this morning, but it is beautiful and no wind. Too cold to kayak so I think I'm off to church. Yesterday was a day of catching up with laundry, gardening and I'm trying to get caught up with all my homework. It's not too tough, but it is work and sometimes I would just like to do nothing at all.
We have been trying to have a bonfire out here, just for fun, however... we need the dark to come sooner so we can still get to bed at a reasonable time. I'm thinking December may be a good month. I have not had a S'more yet this summer with the exception of the one I made in the microwave. Doesn't count!
I made beet pickles yesterday and we had the remaining beet for supper with some mashed Yukon Gold potatoes. Today we are having a turkey breast and carrots. I'm looking forward to cooking the leftover bones for soup stock. I think soup with vegetables from the garden would be in order as the evening temperatures once again cool quickly. I have rainbow Swiss Chard and some Chinese variety lettuces popping up in the garden. I have to protect them from the bugs and deer so that's my ongoing challenge this week.
I have begun my Master Gardener program and am looking forward to that but the E-commerce class is complicated and uses tons of new words... always learning.
