Still on vacation and enjoying this wonderful weather. Although my vacation was peppered with work and more work, I still had some time to get back into the garden again. I tried an experiment with green basil and jalapenos. As you you the hot peppers are hot this year and plentiful because of the warm weather and early rain.
Of course before we go into the actual recipe which can be found at Jalapeno Basil Jelly, you must know there are signs of an early winter. A hard and early winter. The apples are already red and the buffalo berry bushes are so thick they appear like red clouds over the horizon. I would love to try and harvest some, but it's better to wait until the first frost, which is weeks off... we hope.
The pumpkins are turning and tomorrow I hope to get at that eggplant. I will be doing a short film on eggplant and hope you can enjoy me for more of the garden's bounty. Today is my mother's 80th birthday celebration, so we will eat cake. Then I'll have to consider the apple crunch recipe with some of those red apples. We picked a few last night because the hornets have found them.
