What a day. We had wonderful weather. This morning, of course, I was expecting a blizzard so I could freely get back to dressing my loom. I was going to launch that blog and do some video of how to warp with a paddle, etc. etc., but I had so much fun baking and doing laundry yesterday, I only got about ten inches done... and that's really the very first step.
However, the soup was awesome and so I thought I'd share. The bread was great too, it has organic flours from the Harvey Mill including, golden baking flour, kamut, graham and whole wheat. The bread turned out fabulous. One of my favorite meals remains soup and bread, with butter of course. The cake was okay, but not as beautiful as usual... it still eats. It didn't warrant a photo.
I can hear the wind today. But I can see over to Bismarck. There's a strange glow over the city, very bright, brighter than usual. I don't know if that means everyone's up at this hour of the day, or if the clouds are so low they are reflecting the light. All the lights make me sad. It used to be dark out here. You could clearly see the stars and Milky Way. Now you have to get up in the dead of night to see the sky. Well, the weather has to cooperate also.
There are no more Northern Lights. We don't know why? Maybe it's not cold enough. The first few years JC lived out here, the lights were absolutely stunning... Could it be that as we grow older we notice things or perceive them differently? OF course that's it. Except for the lights, that's not perception but reality as our neighborhood still fills with homes and the leaves are bare in the winter so they don't protect the view. I'm glad for the spruce to the north of the house, not only do they stay green, but they filter that north wind. It sounds very cool. In the front of the yard, the cottonwood leaves, in the summer, mirror the sound of the river when the wind blows. I hope that my grandchildren, should I have any, will be able to hear the wind in the spruce and listen to the voice of God in the leaves of the cottonwood trees on a fine summer day... now I'm going to check the weather and get ready for church.
