Everyone should have an old friend. Someone you share a past with. Someone you only see once in a great while, but it takes no effort at all to pick up where you left off. People used to thank me for interviewing them for the newspaper. Especially older people asked to remember something that may have happened a long time ago. Until recently, I didn't know what they meant. But, I do now. When you come across a person from your past - they remind you of things you used to do, places you used to go and moments in time that were so fleeting, yet so perfectly preserved in your mind. . . the things that bring sweet memories flooding back, whether they bring tears or smiles. They are heartfelt and wonderful.
I hope everyone of you has such a friend. Someone with whom you shared a small portion of your life with - someone that cares about you, but no longer has a place in your life on a regular basis. Like lessons learned - and then gentle reminders of where you used to be, or who you used to be, or what you used to do. Sigh.
If I don't get back to blog before Thanksgiving... don't forget the most important thing next Thursday. Give Thanks, for old friends and new. God Bless.
