Summer?

So, if the weather at the end of July resembles the end of September then does winter begin in October and end in March - so we can begin planting our tomatoes in April. Not that I don't enjoy the cool windless days, but my garden does not seem to respond well to the low nighttime temperatures.
It is beautiful though. This is the only time of the year when it appears to be calm for most of the day. The corn next door is taller than I am and fields are turning gold and while the Dog Days of August are upon us...we should not complain.
The zucchini are going to town. But, so are the deer. Mom Doe and her little ones are chomping down hard on what ever's in the east end of the garden. SO, they leave me no alternative except to put up a fence. I may have to do that by myself, since my spouse is draggin' his feet.
I will be demonstrating and selling some stuff at the BAGA show this weekend, Saturday only 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Long Long days of art fairs. Somehow it brings back so many memories of my gypsy life - I miss it. But, it is hard work. So, as I have said many times -- "BUY ART from Artists and BUY FOOD" from Farmers.
See at the Capitol. DON'T forget the farmers market on Tuesday, Aug. 4 -- Chuck Suchy, Chuck Waibel and many vendors plus a local foods lunch for $5. Come and get a free bag if you are one of the first 100 folks to purchase lunch. We also have some very cute wildflower seed packets for you.... see you then.
