Cucumbers

I had a wonderful trip around the state - to Fargo, then to Church's Ferry and then to Bottineau, and then home again. My garden needed water and after discovering a few things had been bitten completely off by the deer, I found three small cucumbers that had escaped the ravage. It was wonderful to have fried Yukon gold potatoes, lettuce salad and cucumbers with cream.
Tomorrow I will have to stop by my garden in town. It has been growing very well now that we have had a little heat.
Above us, there was a total eclipse of the sun - of course, it was only viewable on the other side of the world, but it's nice to know about these things. Because of some sun spots, the Northern Lights were bright above the northern states and Canada the past two nights. I wish I had looked up while in Church's Ferry - we were walking home from the bar about 11 p.m.
Next week, we'll be at the State Fair for Pride of Dakota Day and then I will be staying over for some local foods promotion.
I will be demonstrating weaving at BAGA's Capitol A'fair Aug. 1. At least I think that's the date - if it's Saturday. I will also be bringing some of my scarves, bags and jewelry to sell. I'm still trying to get some dough together to offset the cost of school. We are getting raises because the fiscal year turns over July 1 at the state, so every little bit helps.
We have tons of beautiful photos we have taken this summer. I am hoping to get some new prints, or maybe put a few more on Shutterfly, that way if my computer crashes, they are still safe... Have a wonderful Thursday.

  1. OH Sue, I'm so sorry that I will miss the Capital A'fair this year!! That sounds like a lot of fun! Bummer!!! Well, I hope it goes well!!! Our veggie garden - not really going so well, but my herbs that I started from seed are amazing!!! I've got cilantro and parsley coming out of my eyeballs and basil too - if you need any, let me know, we'll be heading out on Sunday and won't be back till 08/06...So if you need any, help yourself - you probably have plenty yourself though!
