No, I haven't tried it with the current pectin, but we did eat a veggie dinner tonight. Rather than wait until the vegetables are all big and bigger, I decided with no prospects in front of us for dinner to gather our supper from the garden.
There were a few pea pods, onion, garlic, turnips, little carrot thins and beets. Detroit seed-saver beets.... yummy.
We had stir fried turnips with garlic, onion, carrots and peas over brown rice. The sauce was rice wine vinegar, soy sauce and lemon basil jelly. We had to eat the beets slightly cooked with butter... it was divine. For dessert after JC finishes the lawn, apple pie. I took it out of the freezer in anticipation of filling it with good for you stuff, including apples off the tree because in spite of the weird weather, we have a ton of apples out there.
I'm waiting... cucumbers and tomatoes, it's almost time to dig the garlic and my new crop of turnips has peeped out of the ground. I will plant more beets to freeze and the green beans should be coming soon. Our Hubbard squash are growing and so is the corn. What a wonderful witness to see things grow.
