Baby, it's cold outside

The end of February and it's still chilly out there. That north wind has piled the snow around the house and pretty much tucked us in for a few more weeks. An enormous robin appeared at the bird feeder the other day, surrounded by pheasants. I have notice one thing though. The sun was up when I went to work yesterday. I have been gone for nearly two weeks with work. It's good to be home, but when I'm gone the dust piles up. JC says we live in the country and next to a farmer and dust is okay. So I let it be. While I was gone I read Louise Erdrich's Shadow Tag. A new book, a good read about a family - dysfunctional like the rest of us. Since I have been back, I have not read too much. Our conference in Jamestown was awesome. One of my new friends gave me a book called Deeply Rooted. Within those pages are some North Dakota Folks from around the LaMoure area. In the past few months I have gotten to know many people from that area an they ROCK.
In fact, there are many people in the state working towards growing more vegetables and trying to make a living out of the land, reminiscent of the 60s when everyone was "going back to the land." Pretty funny, huh. In fashion, they say if you wore it the first time, you should steer clear of it when it comes around a second time. I agree. However, with land, I'm thinking I have spent my entire life training for this opportunity to bring folks together over a common theme - growing. That means growing vegetables, growing communities and growing socially responsible youngsters. They may have our generation beat on that account. So where am I going with this, nowhere really. I do have a project that will be launched on March 3. It's going to be so much fun and I want all of you involved one way or the other... Oh yes, we can CAN.... have a wonderful day. I'm going to.
